Recreation

A great way to spend an afternoon is about 40 minutes west of The Villages.

First, take a “Lazy River Cruise” with Captain Mike on the Withlacoochee River. 352-637-2726. About $12.50 per person.

Then have a wonderful, inexpensive dinner at Stumpknocker’s Restaurant. Catfish is their specialty but their menu is deep.
Both are on Highway 200 near Hernando, Florida.

The Withlacoochee River runs through some of the most scenic, undeveloped land in Florida. The river is much as it was when the Indians canoed it some hundred years ago.

You’ll enjoy many varieties of Herons, Falcons, Hawks and maybe even an Eagle.

And, reptiles like gators and turtles.

If you’re lucky you’ll catch a deer, wild boar or wild turkey.
